Drive Letter Question

I have a question about Drive letters.
This is in regards to using a digital camera, a printer with a card slot,
and a USB Flash Drive.
Does XP assign the Drive letter for these devices each time a device is
plugged in? If that is the case , they could be different each time they
are connected, depending on what other devices are already connected. Is
this the correct way XP handles USB devices?
I had to do a Camera Wizard repair ( autostart) after using the Flash
Drive, and I wonder if this has anything to do with the Drive letter
allocations.

Thanks.

The drive letter changes if you have additional drives connected. As an
example I use a zip drive which was initially letter F but this was changed
when I had an external HDD connected then connected the zip drive the letter
was change to G since the HDD was now F. Your printer card slot should
maintain its drive letter as long as it connected and on.
