Drive Letter Problem

I installed a new Toshiba DVD R/W drive on my Win XP, sp 2 computer and am
having trouble having the computer assign drive letters the way I want.

Prior to the new DVD drive, a Mitsumi CD R/W drive and a SanDisk memory card
reader were installed and were assigned D: and E: respectively. During the
installation, I configured the new DVD drive to be the master and the
existing CD drive to be the slave. After the installation, the CD R/W drive
and SanDisk memory card reader continue to be assigned D: and E:
respectively and the new Toshiba DVD R/W drive is assigned F:

I would like the drives to be assigned the following letters:
D: DVD drive
E: CD drive
F: SanDisk memory card reader

I've tried physically removing all three devices by disconnecting them and
tried uninstalling each device through the Device Manager but the assigned
letters don't change.

How can I get the drive letters assigned the way I want?

Hi Bob,

it is fairly simple to do this:

Go into Control Panel.
Then go into Administrative Tools.
Go into Computer Management.
Select Disk Management from the storage tab.
Then on the right pane you'll see all of your drives. Right click on the one
you are wanting to change and select "Change drive letter".

Viola!

I am assuming you are running WinXP. Install your devices and at Start->Run
type diskmgmt.msc. Right click on the device you want to change the drive
letter for. One of the popup options is to change the drive letter.

Thanks John. That did the trick!
