Drive Image 2002 seems to detect Boot Sector virus ?

Recently , when I attempt to create an Image File with Drive Image
2002 , when it arrives in the "DOS" screen there is a black square
displayed with the message in white characters :-

BootSector Write !!
VIRUS: Continue (Y/N) ?

If either "Y" or "N" is clicked several times this message disappears
and the normal Drive Image screen appears and everything runs
normally.

My a/v App - AVG ( always kept current ) does not show any virus
present anywhere on the PC which seems to display no unusual
indications

Does D.I. have the ability to detect virus's ?

Until this message appeared I did not associate D.I. with virus
detection .

As Drive Image modifies the Windows bootloader in order to start PQDI rather
than Windows upon a next system boot this modification is trapped by an
enabled Boot Virus Protection scheme in your system BIOS. It hasn't got
anything to do with an installed Windows Anti Virus program installation of
any kind nor has it got anything to do with itself. The culprit in this
respect is your BIOS that is equipped with a basic virus scanner that is
actually trapping a modification in the Master Boot Record applied by Drive
Image 2002...

Disable the BIOS virus option. It only detects DOS MBR viruses, which are
ancient history.

Thanks to both repliers.

I think I've solved this problem. I recently upgraded my m/b and the
new one has a Boot Menu virus protect option which is turned ON by
default . I didn't realise this as my old m/b didn't have such a
feature.

If I turn this OFF I don't get the warning when D.I. is initiated.

Thanks for the help

It amazes me, time after time again, how really awful this type of software is.

Which one, the antivirus software built in the system BIOS or Drive Image
2002 itself :o)?
