I've been messing about for two weeks now, trying to stop the flipping System32 folder from appearing every time I boot up. I asked the question on this site two weeks ago, followed all suggestions and advise, I read several times article Q170086 of Microsoft Knowledge Base and hundreds of pages from many other sources; I downloaded and run Pest Patrol, also Adaware from lavasoft.de and Spybot-S&D. I have cleaned my PC in every way I can think. And still every time I startup/logon, this bloody folder appears in the middle of the desktop. The only thing I wouldn't dare do is manually edit the Registry. I reckon this problem is a curse
I see there is an awful lot of people out there with the same problem, and I wander if anybody managed to solve the problem
I am not expert with PC's (by a long way
Any suggestions?
PLEASE!!

Use msconfig.exe to see what items are configured to load on startup. In
particular, check the items that are listed in the Run keys in the registry.
It may be that you uninstalled some program which left behind a remnant data
value in the Run key. It no longer lists the program but what's left will
open the System32 path. Each data value under the Run key should specify a
program to run (which may itself load or load a DLL). Maybe one of them no
longer lists a program to load but still has the parameters it had and that
is what causes the folder to open on your desktop.

Have you gone to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and run the
fix on Line 260?
