Drawing in PPT

Do you want to draw the circle with your cursor, or do you want to have a
circle appear around the object when you click something?

Let us know which and which version of PPT and it will be easier to answer
your question. :)

I would like to use the cursor and if possible I would like to know how to do
both if possible. I'm using PPT 2003.

To draw a freehand circle with the cursor, press ctrl + P during the show to
bring up the pen. You can also get this from the toolbar bottom left or by
right clicking the screen

To have a circle appear "on click" put the circle on the slide (no fill) and
give it any entrance animation, you could also make the animation triggered
by a click on a shape on the slide (double click the entry in custom
animation > timing > triggers)

John got it! As an FYI: Since you are using 2003, be aware that PPT will
prompt you to save annotations you make during any show presentation. If you
want to draw the circle every time from scratch, be sure you don't save the
annotations.
