When opening borders on another version of Excel I had
the option of using a pencil and eraser. Excel 2000 was
installed recently and I don't have this option. I have
borders I can use but wish to be able to use the pencil
for individual line drawing. How do I get this back?

Go up to view, Toolbars and turn on the Borders toolbar
