Dragging and dropping emails into the calendar

in XP you could drag and drop an email into the calendar to create a reminder
(the email was embedded and contained the specifics) all you had to do was
change the date, time, recurrence etc. It was a very convenient way to
create an appointment or reminder. I can't seem to do this drag/drop with
Vista's calendar and email it seems you have to enter all your details from
scratch, how inconventient or am I just missing something?

Which XP calendar are you referring to? If you are talking about Outlook, it
should work the same way in Vista as it did in XP. I don't believe Vista
Windows Mail and the calendar gadget are intended to be as integrated as
Outlook.

it is Outlook 2000 where you could drag and drop an email into the calendar.
with the Vista Windows mail and the calendar gadget, you have to copy a chunk
of the email and paste it into a new task or appointment, extra work vs.
Outlook. I guess I could always run Outlook under Vista but I figure
Microsoft would have maintained the utility I describe (maybe nobody else
thought it was that useful)

What you describe, I certainly use and I suspect most would find it useful.
However, it's never been part of Windows, only of Outlook so yes, MS did
maintain this functionality, but only in Outlook.

You should be able to run your Outlook 2000 in Vista and have the same
functionality you had in XP.
