Drag-copy: Make it continue on error?

I'm getting ready to reload my XP system, but have run into an old
problem. While copying a directory tree, such as: "documents and
settings" by dragging to to a backup drive, it usually runs into a
file that's in use by another program. The copy quits at that point,
leaving me to find the offending file, and topy everything else.

Is there any way I can modify the behavior of the drag-copy function
(or copy/paste) to just ignore the failing file and copy everything
else?

(Yes, I could use Xcopy, but I prefere the more-visible GUI mode.)

Why are you not using a backup utility to backup your data?

I do have a backup, but in the case of a reload, it's more convenient
to have a full copy on another drive. This way, I can selectively
move items back as needed, such as favorites and cookies for the web
browser, configuration files & plug-in's for newly-reinstalled apps,
etc. It's much more time-consuming to do this through a backup
program.
