Creating a Word shortcut in Excel

How can I drag a word file name shortcut (from My Recent Documents) into
Outlook Calendar or Task?
I can drag the Word filename from My Recent Documents onto the desktop or
into another folder and a shortcut link is copied there. I would like to be
able to do this in Calendar or Task.
When I try this, it makes the shortcut an attached file with a file name
bobmoore.doc.lnk.
When I try to open this, I get a security warning asking me, if I want to
save the file to disk.
It’s already saved, I just want to open the Word file.

that's a security feature because you are using links - use the file path in
text format and you can choose open or save. use the insert button and
choose insert as hyperlink (on the insert button dropdown) instead. you can
also type the path in - use File://D:\Documents\filename.xlsx format,
replacing the spaces in the filename with %20,

Thanks Diane

I took this path from my shortcut properties
"C:\Documents and Settings\Bob Moore\My Documents\Bob Moore.doc"
and replaced the blanks with %20 so it looks like this

FILE://C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\Bob%20Moore\My%20
Documents\Bob%20Moore.doc

This works but I need something that's faster and easier then having to cut
and paste and then add %20 6 or 7 times. I need something as fast and easy
as drag and drop.

Any other ideas?

I pasted it in Calendar and the Apoinment window opened up with this path in
the bottom section.

I don't see anything about Inserting a Hyperlink. I've right click and
looked for the option on the File, Edit tool menus.

Thanks Diane that much better. Is there anyway to have a comment field
displayed on the same line or have what I enter in the Insert field displayed.
I would also want to be able to click the comment heading and have it sort
in order. Both fields would be connected like Subject and Due Date are in
Tasks.

there is no insert field - it's just the notes (Messages) field. You can add
the Message field to the view but you can't sort by that field.

I don't see the Notes (Message) field on the View menu in Calandar or
Appointment.

Do you know how to make a shortcut to call the send mail window.
I know how to go into customize in Outlook and Word and drag Send Mail
to the Menu.

I want to make one for another folder. Dragging it from Outlook doesn't
work. Ideally I would like to right click on a Word link and select Send
Mail. Having the email address thrown in the send to field would be wonderful
but I'm sure that's beyond anything simple in Outlook 2003.

Thanks

I found an article which gave me this path to create a shortcut to call the
send to email window. This works but I cant put it on the menu in a folder. I
can make it a shortcut in the folder and it displays like a file. Any ideas
how I could add it to the menu in a folder?

“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /c ipm.noteâ€

Thanks

What menu in a folder? The right-click context menu? The File menu? The
Options menu? When you want a problem solved, you must be specific or we
won't know what you mean.
