Hello People
I asked this question previously in General Discussion, but recieved no
answer.
Maybe someone here can help?

Vista RC2 5744
When I drag and drop a file or folder in a Explorer window,
the icon attached to the mouse pointer is HUGE, and interferes
with seeing where I am dropping it!
Is there any way to change this behavior?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm not sure if it can be changed. I use the blue arrow that shows where it
will be dropped to guide me. Honestly I like that better.

Yes PaulB, the arrows are Helpful, but I am hoping someone has a permanent
solution or fix. Any MS shell people listening?
Thanks

Hi, Duck3.

Depending on exactly where you want to file to go, you can look for a
horizontal bar that appears temporarily to show the destination. Or, if you
just want to move the file into the displayed folder, you can put the
destination pointer just about anywhere in the destination window, including
the blue area at the bottom of the Explorer window, where the folder details
are shown. Hover your Move pointer in this area and you should see a popup
tool saying something like "+Copy to \Users\Duck3". And you can still see
the bar showing the exact destination.

The mouse pointer - with HUGE icon attached - does not have to point to the
exact location except when the destination is an unopened folder. Even
then, if you put the pointer on the closed folder icon, the "+Move to..."
popup should appear, letting you know that you have selected the correct
target.

I usually use the right-click to drag so that I can be sure whether I'm
Copying or Moving the file before I commit myself.

ThankYou R.C. I guess this is solved, since no changes can be made to the
Large Icon behavior. I will adapt...

I totally agree that the large drag-and-drop icon is annoying at best. I
only hope that in the future someone determines how to modify the size of
this icon. I am in a support capacity and have to use this functionality
quite frequently. I find that this is a hinderance because it now takes
longer to ensure the correct destination folder has been selected.

With the Aero transparancy, LCD monitors do not have the same visual
qualities as a CRT and the highlighting of the folder under the LARGE
drag-and-drop icon is often difficult to distinguish.

Oh, well...
