Drag and drop is broken

David Szlucha

For whatever reason I can't drop files onto a shortcut anymore. For example,
I could drop a file onto a "Winzip" folder and it would add that file to a
WinZip file. Now I just get the circle with a line through it. This happens
for all application/file types. I recall that this was an "OLE" thing in
earlier versions of Windows, did OLE somehow get corrupted on my machine?
Thanks.

Hi David,

It's due to a missing registry key. Click Start/Run and type this command:

REGSVR32 /i SHELL32.DLL
