drag and drop does not work on desktopicons

DEAR SIR
I have windows xp professional 256 mb of ram P111
MACHINE and I had formatted the machine 2 times since
last 2 days but drag and drop does not work at all for
any icons on my windows desktop the icons are not moving
when I try to drag and drop them from one place to
another I had repaired and formatted machine 2 times and
done clean installation but no solution for my problem
please help me with solution SAME PROBLEM IS ALSO in
office word 2002

What icons are you trying to drag and drop, and where exactly are you trying
to drag and drop them to ?

Does cut and paste work ?
