_____

RIGHT click on the file and drag and drop. You will be given a choice of
copying or moving (moving copies the file into the destination folder and
deletes it from the source folder.

There is no need to right click. While performing the drag and drop
operation, press and hold the shift key to perform a file 'move', (cut and
paste). Hold the shift key down until you release the file at the new
destination.

To copy a file, press the control key while performing the drag and drop
operation. There is no need to hold the control key down, just press it
momentarily at some point during the drag operation. Note that a plus sign
appears next to the cursor during 'copy' operations. During 'move'
operations the plus sign does not appear.

I don't know how to make a move the default.

Good Luck

Drag and drop using right click instead of left click--choose Move here on
the popup

Are you dragging from one volume to another? If so, this is the default
behaviour (not so between folders on the same volume).

HTH Tony.

hold control key durning drag and drop that will copy instead of move shift
/ no key will move no copy.
