Drag And Drop Clips

I use Firewire for the transfer of the video from my Sony PC-9 to my PC (My
Videos folder). When MM2 asks me how to save the video I click on 'Best
Quality For Playback On My Computer' and the capture goes fine. The
extension on the captured video file is .wmv.

When I opened MM2 the captured video was listed in the left-hand pane under
Collections. I clicked on that video file under Collections and the first
frame of the video appeared in the center pane of MM2 (the drag a clip and
drop pane). I right-clicked on the single frame and then clicked 'create
clips'. Clips appeared in center pane. When I attempted to 'drag and drop' a
clip (any clip) the process did not work. The clip I am trying to drag and
drop greyed out and stayed greyed out as I dragged it to the storyboard.
When I released the mouse button the clip was not on the storyboard. I also
right clicked on the frame and clicked on Add To Storyboard . No joy.
Repeated attempts to drag and drop using every method I could think of
failed.

When I left click on the frame in the center pane the clip appears in the
preview window. When I right click and click Play Clip the clip plays
perfectly in the preview pane.

Any idea why I cannot 'drag and drop'?

Would help if I wrote a reply first!!!!!!!!!
No idea why it doesn't work. It should do.

Try changing to timeline view and see if that works. I doubt it, but you
never know.

Next capture as a dv.avi, only need a minute or so, so that you can make a
few clips

DV.AVI is the best format to capture in, it retains the quality.

Then test.

Try capturing where it splits the clips for you on capture and see if that
works.

I'll give it a shot (!) but am not optimistic. This whole saga began with my
being unable to drag/drop clips from both dv.avi and .wmv and what I posted
below is just another attempt to get some answers. Do you suppose I have a
corrupted version of MM2 v.2.1 running? Would you suggest I remove the
application from my PC and download a fresh application?

It's very hard to remove MM on it's own as it's part of windows, so a repair
install may help.
First I would look back at what changes I've made to my system recently and
see if I can revert back.
Uncheck any filters in the compatibility tab.

No compatibility filters are checked.

Only system change I have made in recent past is to go from Windows XP Media
Center Edition SP2 to SP3. I never used MM2 under SP2.

Im afraid I'm out of ideas. I suspect something is interfering with MM, but
what.........

hi,

Anyone found solution to this problem yet ? I have the exact same problem.
Cannot drag or copy clips/photos to storyline / timeline.

MANY others have the same issue since almost 1 yr

Thanks
Puneet

I've not seen many others with this problem, can you point me to the threads
so we can check what they have done to try to correct the problem, what
systems they have etc.

In the mean time, what file types are you using?
What are your pc specs?
What OS do you have?
Has it ever worked for you?
