I have XP home. when i first got the machine I could just drag and drop
files to the d: drive and a new cd could be made. I got rid of the cd
writing program, I don't remember its name and purchased Nero 7 ultra. Now
i cannot drag and drop. Instead I need to open nero and go through some
gyrations in order to make a data disc. Is there some way I can program
windows XP to recognize Nero as the default CD manager? Perhaps Windows
has a default program that will do the same thing.

Thanks,.

Hi,

When you installed Nero, the native WinXP burning engine (the imapi burning
service) was disabled. This is normal and is necessary to prevent conflicts.
You should now use only the Nero controls for CD burning. There is good and
bad to this, as the Nero software is far more flexible than the native
burning software. The downside is that you cannot use the drag ~n~ drop
function unless you use Nero's version (InCD).

Bummer. Is InCD an upgrade to Nero 7? I thought I was getting the best
one they had.

Hi,

InCD is part of Nero's software, not an upgrade but rather one of the
available functions. Generally it's included with the full package.
