A friend of mine was given what was supposed to be a working monitor. However, when you turn the monitor on the only thing that appears on the screen are the words "DPMS MODE OFF ". A little reading has given me insight into how DPMS works but i'm still not sure how to get the monitor out of OFF MODE. The system has integrated graphics.

Your 'video card' may not support DPMS ... have a look in the BIOS, using a monitor that works, and see if you have a setting under APM
