Hello,
I had to reinstall XP Pro - don't ask, anal mistake - and decided
that instead of going through all the registry tweaks myself (tedious),
I'd use TweakXP v4.
Something I did has fubared my machine and I do'nt have much interest
in reinstalling again.
I've gone back through the TweakXP to see what I could find that may
cause the problem and I've even done some independent research too.
Here's the problem:
I'm using Process Explorer (the one from SysInternals - great, great,
great utilities) and noticing that DPCs will take up like 40% CPU when
I surf the web. It only happens when I load certain pages. It happens
in IE6 or Firefox, so it's not an IE problem. I've even tried
reinstalling IE. Also, it doesn't happen when I'm downloading files
via FTP or P2P, so it's something weird with the webpage "stuff".
I've also tried the auto internet tweak programs that change your MTU
and TTL, etc...
Nothing I can think of will sotp the DPC from going so high.
I wouldn't notice the problem at all if it weren't for the skipping
that occurs in Winamp. Thank god for MP3s; who knew they could
actually be used for good .
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Bodi
