Frances

When I try to download something, be it software, pictures
or files, the download dialog box does not ask me whether
I wish to "Open the file from it's current location"
or "Save to disk".
The download box looks normal, except there is nothing
after "estimated time left", "download to", or "transfer
rate". After a few seconds to a minute (depending on the
size of the file) the following message appears: "Internet
Explorer cannot download X from Y. Internet explorer was
not able to open this internet site. THe requested site is
either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again
later."
I have. Several times.
I have been told that the problem is a corruption in my
internet browser, but am unsure as to how to correct it. I
have tried using a Windows XP Upgrade disk and
uninstalling and reinstalling Internet Explorer 6, but
this has not worked.

Help! Help! HELP!

Hi Frances,

This is often a Cache problem. Try deleting your Temp. Internet Files and History folders, thus
forcing Windows to create new ones, containing brand new index.dat files, on reboot.

Here's how to do that: How to safely delete the History and Temporary Internet Files folders:

Try that, and please repost with your results.
