Downloads from IE problems

Defender Beta 2 was preventing me from successfully downloading files through
Internet Explorer --I ended up uninstalling Defender Beta2. Is there a
setting in Defender that would cause this problem. The download from IE
would complete and I could see it in Windows Explorer for a second and then
the file would disappear.

I'd like to use the product if someone would tell me what setting to change.

Thanks

Try this setting: Tools, General Settings, scroll down

to real-time protection agents and uncheck Internet Explorer Downloads.

Note that this agent also scans email attachments--so you are losing
protection in two areas, at least.

This is a bug, clearly. It would be good to hear whether this works around
the issue on your machine.

I have the same problem and unchecking Internet Explorer Downloads does not
work around the issue on my machine.

Does uninstalling Windows Defender?

Uninstalling Windows Defender will allow me to download as nomal. I have
installed and uninstalled Defender several times trying out different
combinations, including your suggestion, none of which will work. Windows
Defender seems to run perfectly well in all other respects. As was said
before, my downloads will complete but disappear from my machine. I have
tried to save them to a folder and run them without saving, neither works. I
am, by the way using the new IE7 Beta 2.

Thanks--I don't have any clear picture of what is happening with this
symptom, but I've definitely seen it--on the machine I'm writing from!
