When I try to download a file it doesn't ask me where I want to save it at
anymore and when it gets done and opens there is nothing there. How do I fix
it?

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

Hello,

I have been trying to log in to Gmail and I keet receiving this message
"redirecting to http://.....". But when I try it on another computer, it
works just fine. Moreover, when I try to download attachments in Yahoo mail,
it took me to a blank site that contains this message "You might not have
permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you
supplied". I have no idea what is going on in my computer. I didn't have
those problems before.

Hoping to hear from someone.
Thanking you in advance.

I have been fighting the same "no prompt" issue for quite some time. I
unchecked the "always ask" box for a .csv file and have not been able to
reset the download prompt since. Beleive me when I say I have tried the
suggested method MANY times and it just doesn't work!!!

Looking at the file association, the "confirm after download" box is checked
for the .csv file type, but no prompt. I have unchecked it, rebooted,
rechecked it, rebooted, etc. every combination I could think of and NO
PROMPT????

Not just me either, as I have MANY clients using my application that are
having the same problem downloading a .csv file that I generate. The only
solution I have come up with is to tell them to right click on the link to
the file and select save as. Very ugly solution for several reasons.

Very frustrating.

Hi,

I had the same problem and finally figured out how to fix the problem.
Please follow the steps below.

CSV file opens instead of exports.

1. Double-click My Computer
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the File Types tab.
4. Under Registered File Types, select XLS Microsoft Excel Worksheet,
and then click Advanced.
5. Click to check the Confirm open after download check box, and then
click OK.
