Hi Group

My apologies if this is an easy question.

I have been asked to take over and maintain a website for my cousin (which
has been created by FP). I would like to download a copy all the files off
the server and keep on my PC.

How or can this be done using FP2000

Many thanks

TK

Yes, as long as the live/remote server has the FP extensions and you have the FP login info via File
Menu | Open Web / Site and enter the http://www.thedomainname.com, then use the File Menu | Publish
Web / Site command to publish to a folder on your local HD.

Hey Thomas

Thanks for your answer. I have tried what you have suggested below and am
coming up with this problem. Every time I go to publish I am getting this
error message:

'You specified identical destination filenames for some of the files you are
trying to copy. Make sure all destination files have unique names and try
again'.

Please can you explain what is going wrong.

Thanks
TK

Sounds like you are publishing from a Unix web server. Unix is caSe
sensitive, so for example Index.htm and index.htm are two different
files, whereas on Windows they are the same file.
It is likely that somewhere on the website there are files (in the same
folders) with duplicate filenames apart from CasE.
With the live web open in FrontPage, go through every folder looking for
such duplicates, and rename one of them to a completely different name.
The try publishing again.
