Can anyone explain to me how to use Vista to maximize the download of
torrent files at the fastest possible speed? Thanks!

If I can assume you are connected with an Ethernet card, open its Properties
in Device Manager, The Advanced tab will have several properties. Highlight
the "Performance Options", and click "Properties". Maximize the "Transmit
Buffers" and "Receive Buffers" (Default is 512, and max is usually 2048.)

Install cygwin.
start the X server
ssh -X to your linux box and start azureus.

Lol :-) Sorry couldn't resist :-)

I actually don't think there's a lot you can do on your end to
speed up torrents. They seem to depend far more on the quality of the
remote "servers" and their own connections to the net than anything you
control.

Mark,

This does not do it for me. Does the term "listening port" mean anything to
you? I was told by the software program that the listening port is blocked,
but I don't know how to unblock it.

To fix this issue go to www.portforward.com and follow the instructions.
