Downloading To Specific Drives

I have 2 hard drives on my computer (C and D). When I had
the 2nd hard drive added it was addressed as D.

The C drive came with my computer. My issue is this:
Each and every time I download a program either from disc
or the web or anything else for the matter, it always
goes to my C drive. I really want it to go to the D drive
so I can equal out the amount of memory space being used
on each one.

Does anyone have any suggesstions?
Is there a setting or something that I am missing?
