Downloading setup.exe files

i have a setup.exe file with is 50M bytes on my internet site. Downloading a
file of this size takes forever. Is there anyway i could reduce the size to
make the download faster?
 
Have you tried zipping it??

A 50 mb setup file is huge.
What did you create / compile it with??

Steve, if i zip the file, wont the people who download the setup.exe file
need to unzip it? This is what i trying to avoid
 
Yes they will need to unzip it.
However, almost everyone has WinZip, and Windows XP has a built in Unzip utility.

Also, if you purchase WinZip, you can create a self extracting zip file.

Yeah that was such an issue back in 1991.

Nowadays.....not so much.

Winzip can create a self extracting executable. So, no, in the highly
unlikely event that the enduser doesn't have any way/clue on how to unzip,
they will not need winzip.
