Downloading screensavers!

Pleas help me. I am new to windows. I would like to change my screensaver to
a downloaded one but it doesn't come up in my list of screensavers in the
"choose screensaver; section of control panel.
Any help would be appreciated .

Where did you put your downloaded screensavers? I believe the correct
location for them is %systemroot%\system32.

James, I assume that you have a file that has a .SCR extention. Screensavers
have that extention. Windows XP keeps those files in C:\Windows\System32
folder. Get there by opening My computer and place your .scr file there. Now
when you goto Screen saver it will show. If the screen saver is a
sel-installing program, it should put it there for you automagically, if
not, then you need to do it manually, as I just decribed.
