Dudley Henriques

Say I have a large file to download from the web. I'd like to be able to
begin the download and go out and do other things, but I have to be here to
hang up the connection with the ISP when the download is finished.
I have a simple dialup and a 56k modem and use Earthlink as my ISP. Is there
an option anywhere in either IE or my dialup settings in XP Home Edition
that will allow me to begin the download, then leave the computer alone to
download the file and then hang up the connection to Earthlink on it's own
when the download is completed and on the machine where I have targeted it
to go....say the desk top? I can't seem to be able to find this option
anywhere and assume it's not possible. Can someone either confirm this or
point me in the right direction?
Many thanks

What I would do is use the AutoDisconnect feature and set it to something
that I estimate will allow the download to occur. I also turn up the volume
on my speakers to give me a better chance of hearing the Beep which
signals the display of the count-down timer. Unfortunately it is only
a 30-second count-down which can make getting back to the computer
to assess whether I want to disconnect to occur or press S to let the
connection stay up.

Disconnect if idle for ___ minutes
