I used Windows XP on my old machine and amongst others used these programs,
IrfanView, PaperPort11, WinBMD and Norton.

I have tried to download these onto my brand new Vista computer (I have the
relevant product keys where required), none of these programs will install,
the download and install almost completes and before it does so I get an
error message that typically says:

"Can't output file C:\PaperPort11\PaperPort\0x0409.ini"

Has anyone else had this problem and if so please could you help with a
sloution

I have IrfanView 3.98 installed and working on Vista, I didn't have any
problems.

What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Start Without
Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

Am using IrfanView 3.99. Just d/l Paperport 11 (build for Vista obtained
from their web site) and all installed without a problem. Have you tried to
install as Administrator?
