Downloading problem

Although I have Adobe Reader installed I cannot download
PDF files from websites. I have no problem opening PDF
attachments in my e-mails. Can anyone help?

I also cannot for some reason maintain passwords,settings
or history. I personalize my toolbars in Excel and when
I close the program it reverts to the cumbersome default
settings. What can I do?

Help!!!!
