.

It may be simpler for you to pull your photos into Word
directly from the CD (using the Insert menu in Word and
going to your CD drive, etc.)

To copy files from your CD to your My Pictures folder,
try this:
1. Insert CD
2. Right-click the Start button
3. Select Explore
4. In the LEFT pane, find My Computer and click it
5. The RIGHT pane should display to show your files and
drives, with your CD drive under "Devices with Removable
Storage"
6. Double-click your CD drive in the RIGHT pane to
display the contents
7. Make sure the files you want are displayed and press
CTRL+A to select all files
8. Press CTRL+C to copy the selected files
9. In the LEFT pane, find your "My Documents" folder
(might show as Owner's Documents or Joy's Documents)
10. Click the small plus [+] symbol to expand the list,
and you should see the My Pictures folder
11. Click the My Pictures folder to show it in the RIGHT
pane
12. Make sure you have the folder you need - may need to
double click a folder in the RIGHT pane (this is wherever
you want those images to be stored)
13. Press CTRL+V to paste the copied files into the
selected folder. Windows should show you a progress
meter at this point while the files are written.

That should do it! Now all you have to do is go into
Word and pull in the files from the folder in My Pictures
where you saved the images. Again, you can just do that
directly from the CD and save the hard drive space, but
that's not what you asked for help with. Good luck.

1. Put the CD into the cd rom drive
2. Click the Start button, then My Computer
3. You will see a list of all drives on your machine. Double click on the
CDRom drive to open it
4. Edit > Select All (or hit Ctrl+A to select all)
5. Edit > Copy (or hit Ctrl+C to copy)
6. Click the Start button again, then My Pictures
7. Edit > Paste (or hit Ctrl+P to paste)

I wrote the following article in response
to someone who wanted to copy images
from a CD and then e-mail them but it should
answer your questions also:

==============================
There are several ways to accomplish
this task...I am going to offer some
simple instructions that should be
relatively painless.

Let's begin by copying the image files
to your hard drive.

1) Right click your desktop, choose...
New / Folder. This will create a New
Folder on your desktop...this is where
the image files will be copied.

2) Insert the CD in your CD drive. A
dialog box may appear on your screen
that says: What do you want windows
to do? You will have several choices...
Choose...
"Open Folder To View Files" / "OK".

2B) If the dialog box does not appear...
go to the *My Computer* icon on your
desktop and left click it. In the window
that opens you will see all of your drives.
Right click the icon for your CD drive...
(probably (D:)...from the menu...choose
...."Open"...

3) Now you should see a window with
some folders in it. This is the contents of
the CD. Left click the various folders until
you find the image files. When you see
the images pop up...Go to the toolbar at
the top of the window and left click...
....Edit / Select All...
.....once more....
....Edit / Copy...
Now you can close the window.

4) Now...open your New Folder with a
left click and go to...Edit / Paste...this
will copy the selected image files into
your New Folder.

More than likely, these images will
be too large for sending in e-mail. So
it will be necessary to resize them.

One way to accomplish the resizing is to
allow Windows to do it. Right click an
image file and choose...Send To / Mail
Recipient...

Hopefully a dialog box will open that
states, "Windows can resize the pictures...
etc, etc...

"Make my pictures smaller" will already
be selected so all you have to do is left
click the *OK* button.

Now you should see a new e-mail message
with the image attached. Enter an address
and a message and send the image. Once
you understand the basics you can attach
several images to one message.

Just be sure you do not create a file too
large for e-mail. The resized images should
be around 50kb...8 or 10 of these should
not be a problem. If you are sending to AOL
it's best to send one image at a time.

If you do not get the resize option....

Try this:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

Now try e-mailing again.

Also...you may want to try the following:

Go to the following link and download and
install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures. You can select one
image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.

BTW...when resizing if you go to...Advanced
Button / Custom...and enter 640 in each field...
that will be a good size for e-mail purposes.

To use these resized files...open a New E-mail
Message and left click the *Attach* button.
(Looks like a paper clip) now...Browse to the
folder that contains the image files and select
the one you wish to attach.
