downloading pictures from video camera

My Sony HandyCam downloads pictures in .avi automatically. I need to have
them saved in jpeg format.
 
If you are capturing to WMM, and I have never tried to capture stills to WMM
so I can't say if it even works or not, then saving to JPG isn't an option.
