Downloading pictures are always "unknown" and .bmp

When my computer was new, while downloading pictures from the web, they had always their original "name" in the "safe picture"-window and where always in their original format (in most cases .jpg)

Now it is always an "unknown" picture and the the format is always (like a default) on .bmp

What can I do to have the default in the mode that it is like in the beginning the original name and the original format
