Downloading photos from Canon ZR 85

When trying to download photos from my new camcorder with Canon DV software,
I get an error message stating that "no camera is found" In the instruction
manual, it says that Windows Messenger 4.5, 4.6 or 4.7 must be installed and
operating correctly for the software to work. It doesn't appear that I have
any of those messengers. Are they part of the standard XP system? How do I
get them?
