I have Overdrive Media Console installed, version 2.1.0.0

When trying to open the program and/or to download from my public library, I
get an error message to contact Microsoft Product Support.

The error message code is "0xC00D2751" which sends me to KB 913800.
Downloading the fix from Microsoft produces another error, and a reference
to an error log. This log is about 70 lines of text in length, but the last
two lines read
"Update.exe extended error code = 0xf0f4
Update.exe return code was masked to 0x643 for MSI custom action
compliance."

I am mystified. The download I am attempting is from my local library's
collection of downloadable ebook titles, I have a valid library card, and
gain access to the download site with no problems.

Difficulties begin when I actually click on the "download" button on the
library's webpage.

TIA for any assistance.

Are you actually trying to download the file, not viewing it online?

This page could be of help:

"FIX: Windows Media Digital Rights Manager protected files may not
correctly play back on Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005-based computers
that have Update Rollup 2 installed"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913800/en-us

See under "More Information" at bottom.

The answer!

1. Open "Control Panel".

2. Open "Folder Options" and select the "View" tab.

3. Select "Show hidden files and folders".

4. Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".

5. In the warning message you receive, click "Yes".

6. Click "OK".

7. Close the Control Panel

8. Rename the DRM folder to DRM.old.

Depending on your OS, it can be found in different locations:

- Windows 2000 and XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM

- Windows 98: C:\Windows\All Users\DRM

- Windows Millennium Edition: C:\Windows\DRM

9. Close this window and open OverDrive Media Console.

10. Go to "Tools > Windows Media Player Security Upgrade".

11. Once the upgrade is complete, try downloading a book.
