When I try to download something from the internet, to my desk top,it goes
through the download process but nothing happens when I try to open it. a
popup says that the drive or network connection that the shortcut (and names
the link I tried to download with pdf.lnk on the end of it )refers to is
unavailable.it says to make sure the network resource is available, and then
try again. What does this mean. I can download music and pictures sent through
my email but not sure why I can't download this, any help appreciated.

It means that you have another program running on your computer that is using
the file pdf.lnk. If that doesn't solve the problem, you want to try
downloading it as pdf.exe (.exe is the same thing). Make sure when you
download it to enclose the whole name in quotation marks; example:
"filename.exe".

Sounds like you've saved a SHORTCUT to the file, and not the actual file
itself. How do you start the "download"?

this is for Gorgon and Carrona, item says"click here to download" it is
written in the middle of a sentence.so I click and it automatically starts
the download in pdf file no chance to change the file name, when I tried to
add exe to the end afterward it says the change may make the file
unachievable.

try right-clicking the link and choosing "Save target As" (assuming IE....)
