I have a MS Excel file that I want users to be able to
download. I have a link to the file on the server, but
when you click on it, it opens in the browser instead of
opening a download window. How do I get the download
window to open.

Thanks in advance!

It does that opening in your browser thing automatically.....you'll have to put
in in a ZIP file (providing the user has an Unzip software like Winzip, or else
they have to Right-click and "Save As" to their hard disk

Hey Murray, I noticed your reply and have a question if you can spare
minute..

Does front page 2003 have the capability to set up
password protected web page, or link within my we
site, that could be used to enable my clients t
access the page or link, and then download files ( i
this case either mp3 or wave files, which btw, I wil
compress with power zip - auto extract .exe )......i need t
manage the process of delivering music to clients
these files are very clumsy via email.....so ideally they need to log into a file and access work in progress....

I also need to enable clients, using passwords, to upload back to me the same type of sound files, including compressed digital video files if that is possible

thanks

thanks

It's not the client version of FP (2003 or 2000, etc) but the FP SE that control permissions
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=301554
Your host will have to support subwebs and unique permissions under the FP Server Extensions
