Downloading .exe .bat etc. files

Hi,
I'm a techie and from time to time have to download .exe, .bat, etc. type
files as attachments but find if I use Outlooks (Office XP) it will not
allow me to do this. In Outlook express you can choose if you want to be
protected or not, but I have not been able to find this function in Outlook
itself. Any ideas or suggestions appreciated - Thanks!
