Downloading email msg to hard drive & then to CD

I'm a real beginner and would like download an email
document to hard drive and then to a CD so that if future
corrections are required to document they can be easily
made without retyping the whole document. I have a CD
Writer and my operating system is Windows XP. Art
 
copy contents of message
paste into empty notepad or wordpad document
edit...save to cd.
