Downloading and installing SP2 and then it not being there

I am starting over with Windows XP 2002. I am trying to download SP2. I have
downloaded and installed SP2 several times. It always says the installation
was succussful. The download history shows it was successful. When I look at
he properties of My Computer, it still shows no SP2. If I attempt to install
another piece of software that requires SP2, it will tell me I do not have it
and must upgrade before I install the new software. At one time I ran the
malicous (sp) software and it said I had no problems.

Can someone tell me what is happening and what I can do to complete this
installation.
 
Hello David,

Check the event viewer for errors and post them here. And look under c:\windows
for the logfiles from the sp2 installation for errors.

Check to make sure that your Antivirus program or Internet Security program
is not blocking it. Disable them temporarily while you install the SP.
