Downloading and Installing files

A friend of mine has recently downloaded XP and she cannot download or
install files. I know it must be a setting that is checked that should be
unchecked to allow her to do this, but I can't find it.

Hopefully someone can help me with this.

Not enough information.
Cannot download could mean a lot of things around here.

What application is being used to download?
Internet Explorer? What version?

Does the Windows Update site function?
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Is she up to date with Windows Updates (Critical)?

Any errors present themselves when the download is attempted?
Any messages at all?
Such as one at the top of Internet Explorer blocking the download?

Anything found in the event log when she tries to actually install files?

Shanan, thanks so much and yes you are right more information is needed. I
will get with her and see if she can answer or have her join the forum to
ask/answer the questions. At least I know that there are really people out
there that will help with questions. It seems as if your question in a lot
of forums goes out to never never land.
