Hi,

System specifications:
Domain Controller: Windows 2000 Server SP4, MS Enterprise
CA,Active Directory domain, IE 6 SP1
Klient: Windows 2000 Pro SP2, IE 6 SP1

Issue:
The browser freezes with message "downloading activex
control " allways when I try to get on the "Request a
certificate for a smard card on behalf...." page. It
happens both on Workstation and Domain Controller which
runs the CA. I have the administrator rights and cert web
serveser (http://certservetname/certsrv/} is in the trusted
site zone. All activex controlls are enabled in the IE
options. I have the account with admin rights.

I have already tried the
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=330389 but it is not
possible to install/uninstall 323172 fix over SP4 on the DC.

Workstation with 323172 fix browser shows the "downloading
activex control".
Without this fix I get this message "Proper version of the
ActiveX control failed to download and install. You may not
have sufficient permission..." I have admin rights and CA
web sites are in list of trusted sites. All ActiveX
controls are Enabled.

I dont see any light at the end of this tunnel...

Thanks for any help
Petr

I had a similar problem on one CA and reinstalling the patch worked.
Possibly you could try that in safe mode. If the machine will not allow it
to be reapplied you may want to post in Windows Update newsgroup. There are
methods to modify the registry I believe that can work around a patch
reinstall which I do not know how to do offhand.. --- Steve

Hello Steve,
thank you for reply. Unfortunately, reinstallation of the
hotfix in save mode did not work. I am going to post my
troubles in Windows Update newsgroup. Thanks for tip.
