Downloader with auto file rename?

I'm looking for a free downloader that splits files, etc. and also can
automatically rename files if there is another file with the same name
in the download folder. I'm not interested in a downloader that
creates different folders or one that prompts for a different
filename...just one that can automatically create a new name... Any
suggestions?

Stardownloader can does that:

http://www.stardownloader.com/

Note: The last freeware version is 1.44, available on their site, make sure
to uncheck the option to serach for new versions on startup, because it
sees the $-ware-version as a newer version.

Thanks! It does what I wanted nicely. I wish it also had the
capability to control the download speed (for those times when I'm
browsing while downloading) but I can live without that...
