Hello all.....
I have something going on in my computer. When connected to the internet, I
am constantly alerted by Nortons Anti Virus that it has detected a file that
contains a downloader.trojan virus. I suspect that I have a process running
in the background that is going out to some web site and tries to download
these files.
I have run Nortons, in safe mode with restore turned off, and it reports no
viruses found. I have also run spybot and adaware several times.
I have checked the processes running in task manager, but can find nothing
that ooks suspicious. I have also checked the startup.ini and again see
nothing out of the ordnary.
Background: This is a Win XP pro system, connected to the internet via dsl.
Each time I connect via dsl I receive a different IP address. If I am
connected to a system via a vpn connection, the attacks stop. I am running
the windows included firewall. Nortons is set to run constantly, and it
appears to be catching these incoming files and quarantining them
effectively.
I'm sorry that this post is so long, but wanted to give as much detail as
possible.
Does anyone have any idas how to stop these attacks?
TIA
