I am very careful with my e-mail, deleting suspect mails directly from the
server (mailwasher). Then I have Norton Internet Professional 2003 set to
scan all incoming mails. I never open any mails that get through with
attachments, unless I know who they are from.

I ran a routine virus system scan and I found that 2 files (win32info) in my
Temp Internet folder was infected with the Downloader Dlcua.B virus, which
Norton delt with automatically.

Anyone know how this virus is transmitted and what it actually does?

McAfee alerts on this as:

I've recently seen a few files on the web detected as "Downloader-DC" by
McAfee.

They have been usually been related to some advertisements (popups) for
porn sites, upon accessing the site it tries to automatically download
the file (standard porn dialler tricks being used).

Probably someone using your computer has accessed a site that wanted to
download one of these files, and it got downloaded into your Internet
Cache. Easiest way to remove is to go into your browser and clear the
cache (For IE: Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files). If your only
detection was in your Internet Temp folder, then it shouldn't be
anything to worry about and clearing the cache should resolve it.

Some can come from those you *do* know too.
Some can *pretend* to come from those you know.

It pays to be careful.
