downloaded music programs

I have tried about 10 different pay programs to try and download music and
when I install it on vista my computer will mess up every time. I was told
vista is not compatable with them. Is there a program that is compatable.
 
I am using Trend Micro as security and yes I use a firewall but I make sure
that I put the program I am trying to use on it. No other programs has been
installed on this computer I am just frustrated.
