Downloaded exe files are being changed to jpg files and cannot open or run

A while ago I went to instal an update for my web cam
software. When I double clicked on the file up came my
browser and an error message. Looking at the properties
of that file, and all 5 of the other updates I've
downloaded today, every one is set as a jpg file, even
though they end in .exe.

Any assistance in correcting this would be greatly
appreciated.
