Downloaded app file launched TWICE

I work for a software company that has an application, Analytica, that
uses the *.ana file association. After clicking a link and downloading
one of our model files, and clicking 'open', TWO instances Analytica
are launched with the downloaded file loaded.

I'm aware there are some simple workd arounds, like saving the file,
then opening it. But we'd really like it if only one instance of IE
was launched when someone clicks 'open' in IE.

I saw several posts from people that we're having a similar problem,
but none of them had a good response, so I thought I would try again.
Perhaps this is a registry issue, not sure. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheers,
Fred

Ooops! I'm terribly sorry about that. I missed the fact that the
application was your own.

Maybe this article will be of some assistance:

Executing files by hyperlink and the File Download dialog box in Internet
Explorer

The only thing I can think of is that your program is trying to start itself
and display in IE, and IE is also opening the program at the same time via
the "open" command on the download dialog box. Somehow there are two
start/open commands happening at the same time. This article may provide an
alternative path to access your program outside the usual IE
download/open/save path.
