Download Templates in Office 2007

When I try to download templates in Word and PowerPoint, the message says:
The template cannot be downloaded. To fix this problem"......and then gives
way to 'fix' which aren't viable (one is connect to the Internet and I have
broadband)

Help!

Have you tried downloading the templates directly from
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/FX100595491033.aspx?pid=CL100632981033
(the Templates section at Office Online)?

Yes, but I'd like to be able to download them from inside Word and/or
PowerPoint. I have been able to do that before.

I don't know what has happened--why downloading directly via the New dialog
box doesn't work. But as long as you save the templates in your Templates
folder, you will still be able to create new documents based on the
templates via the New dialog box.

Did you try updating to SP2?

I guess that would also be worth testing. Personally, however, I don't have
SP2 installed, and I don't have any problems with downloading templates via
the New dialog box.
