I have a download speed of 19450 Kbps from my ISP and when connected to
cable LAN I am getting around 1.5 MB/Sec downloading SP-2 from Microsoft but
when I try downloading the same file from the same location using wireless
54g I am only getting around 298 Kbps

Wireless is a LOT different than a wired connection. 54 Mbps is the
theoretical maximum but any of many factors combine to lower that
number. Among them is distance from the access point, interference
from other nearby wireless networks on the same channel, other wireless
computers nearby sharing the bandwidth, and cordless phones that also
share the same frequencies -- just to name a few. There's not much you
can do about most of that except perhaps change your wireless hub to a
different channel (1, 6, and 11 recommended).

John
