I'm running a 2003 XP Media Center with SP3, fully updated.
Now my update feature is asking me to download a
"Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack Service Pack 3 (SP3)"
Wouldn't this be redundant?

I clicked their online info, could not find anything that addresses
that anything new was added, except maybe for 2007.
I put a feedback comment to them, but don't expect a reply.

I don't want to add redundant info to my computer,
it already has the ton of updates!

Again the query:
Wouldn't this be redundant?

Thanks,
Sylvia

The update in question is Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack Service
Pack 3 (SP3). Don't confuse it with SP3 for Windows XP as it updates the
Microsoft *Office* Compatibility components that were installed,
*not* Windows XP.
So, no, it's not redundant.

No, it's not at all redundant. Service Pack 3 for Windows XP (which
you already have) and Service Pack 3 for Microsoft Office
Compatibility Pack (which you apparently don't have) are two very
different things.

It's like you have a broken leg with a splint on it and you then break
an arm. If the doctor wants to put a splint on your arm, it's not
redundant.

Many thanks.
I'll apply the SPlint to Office now!
