Greetings!

Since a friend upgraded me from Windows 98 to Windows ME,
I have been unable to download certain files from
websites, nor do attachments in my webmail account
download correctly. I am in this forum because someone
recently suggested it might be an IE issue, not a windows
issue.

Specifically, I can't download sales history from Ebay,
bank statements from my bank, cc transaction histories
from the card companies, etc etc - all of which have diff
file extensions.

I select the download, receive the open/save dialog box -
select save - there is some activity in the bottom left
bar - and then the box disappears and nothing happens. I
have searched the harddrive for the file extensions - no
luck. There is no error message or dialog to indicate
error - but the file is not saving, nor do I get asked
where I want it saved to on the pc.

Has anyone else had this problem? Please help :0

Only a guess....
While you mention different file extensions you do not tell us what
they are. Downloading is heavily dependent on file extensions so try
this response for .exe files and see if it applies to other extensions
as well:

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
[Q303401]
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.
